About Alan Savage
Alan's early years were shaped by the serene landscapes of rural Idaho and Nevada, where he developed a deep appreciation for nature and history. Cherished memories include fishing trips with his father, hiking into picturesque mountain lakes, and evenings spent singing around campfires. These experiences fostered a lifelong passion for exploration, as he and his family ventured into abandoned towns, mines, and forests, searching for artifacts and treasures.
At the age of 12, Alan's family relocated to central California, where he continued his outdoor pursuits as a Boy Scout, exploring the state's mountains and lakes. His interest in real estate emerged at 16 when he purchased a steep, forested lot in Cambria, California, which he later traded for a down payment on a home. By 17, he was involved in home rehabilitation projects in Bakersfield, despite his mother's encouragement to pursue a career in real estate.
In 1984, after rising to the position of Regional Vice President at a major life insurance company, Alan began selling securities. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for helping others build investment portfolios. In 1989, he made the pivotal decision to transition into real estate, focusing on properties in the coastal town of Cambria.
During his first three years with Century 21 in Cambria, Alan achieved remarkable success, earning recognition as the top listing and selling agent in the area. His production levels placed him among the top 1% of real estate agents nationwide. In 1992, he established his own brokerage, Cambria Realty.
By late 1995, Alan expanded his reach beyond the Central Coast, listing and selling properties in northern California's mountain and lake regions. He developed a Lot Flip Program, successfully selling over 1,000 lots to real estate investors, many of whom resold them at significant profits. Alan also guided clients in utilizing Self-Directed Retirement Plans to facilitate these transactions, allowing them to defer or avoid taxes on their investment gains.
In addition to his brokerage in Cambria, Alan opened two other successful real estate firms in northern California: Manor Realty in Chester and Foxwood Realty Inc. in Lake Almanor. Alongside his wife, Cherie, he launched several businesses in Cambria, including two art galleries and a retail store featuring a gourmet coffee bar. His expertise extended to consulting on land subdivisions, RV park projects, and various redevelopment initiatives. Over his 22-year career, Alan has participated in more than 200 new home and commercial construction projects and has been a principal partner in numerous subdivision mapping and lot split endeavors.
In 2007, Alan and Cherie relocated to Grass Valley, California. Over the past four years, he has continued to assist buyers and sellers throughout northern California. Through a discounted mortgage purchase and resale program, he has also helped over 20 homeowners avoid displacement due to foreclosure, demonstrating his commitment to supporting the community.
