Patti Michels, a lifelong resident of DuPage County and a 30-year inhabitant of Downers Grove, naturally gravitated toward a career in real estate. Growing up in a family involved in home construction and remodeling, she frequently visited open houses and construction sites, experiences that instilled in her the importance of diligence and resilience.

In 1997, after a successful decade in sales at a large corporation, Patti transitioned to real estate. “I wanted to take charge of my future,” she recalls. The initial years in the industry proved to be demanding, but Patti quickly recognized that dedication and long hours were essential for success. Her commitment paid off, leading to significant growth in her business.

In 2015, Patti partnered with her son, Chase, who brought a wealth of experience in commercial real estate and a client-centric approach focused on relationship-building and trust. Raised in Downers Grove, Chase attended Pierce Downer Elementary School, Herrick Middle School, and Downers Grove North High School. He graduated in 2011 from the University of Illinois at Champaign with a degree in Economics and Finance.

The collaboration between Patti’s extensive experience and Chase’s expertise in marketing and technology has formed a dynamic, cross-generational team known as The Michels Group. Together, they have successfully sold over 450 homes, achieving more than $275 million in sales volume, and consistently rank among the top 15 real estate teams in DuPage County.

Outside of work, Patti enjoys starting her day with exercise and cherishes time spent with family and friends. She also loves to travel with her husband, Shane Michels. Chase resides in River North, Chicago, where he takes advantage of the city’s offerings and enjoys playing golf, participating in sports leagues, and traveling. Both Patti and Chase delight in spending time with their granddaughter, Brecken, age 4, and grandson, Shane, age 2.

The Michels Group actively supports the Downers Grove community by sponsoring local sports teams, humane society events, and organizations such as Downers Grove Newcomers and Nextdoor.com.

Brecken enjoys attending open houses and giving tours to visitors, while Patti’s Cockapoo, Cooper, occasionally joins the team. “I take him on walks during open houses,” Patti shares. “While he doesn’t enter the homes, he certainly enjoys the attention from visitors outside!”
