Andy Weir, a first-generation Californian, was born and raised in Los Angeles. He earned his degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California, where he was actively involved in campus life as a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and served as the editor of the sports section of the USC yearbook. It was during his time at USC that he met his wife, Michelle.

After establishing a career in television programming that took him to New York City for several years, Weir returned to California to join Stroyke Properties, one of the South Bay's most esteemed boutique real estate firms. The Stroyke name has been a cornerstone of real estate in Manhattan and Hermosa Beach for over four decades. Originally operating as Vintage since the 1980s, the firm rebranded as Stroyke Properties Inc. in 2010. Under the leadership of brothers Bryn and Robb Stroyke, the firm has recently welcomed Weir to its team.
