Denise E. Matthis has called San Diego home since she was two years old, making her a long-standing member of this vibrant community. As the Owner and Broker of DEM Financial Services & Real Estate, she leads a boutique brokerage focused on fostering community pride through homeownership and the creation and preservation of generational wealth via real estate. Denise is particularly dedicated to guiding first-time homebuyers and veterans through the complexities of the home buying process, ensuring they are well-informed and empowered. Additionally, she has a strong focus on assisting seniors with probate and distressed property sales.

Denise's expertise is underscored by her numerous professional designations, including Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS)—a distinction held by fewer than 5% of real estate professionals nationwide—Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Military Relocation Specialist (MRP), Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist (CMPS), Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource (SFR), Certified HAFA Consultant, Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE), and Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE). She has also obtained Certified REO and Short Sale Designations from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), the Five Star Institute, LIONGATE Financial Network, and VRM University.

For over nine years, Denise has consistently been recognized as a Five Star Agent, an honor awarded to fewer than 7% of agents in her market. Her local Association of REALTORS® has acknowledged her educational achievements and real estate designations, and she has received a silver award for her production.

Active in her local REALTOR® Association, Denise serves on the Board of Directors and participates in the Government Affairs, Housing Opportunity, and Education Committees. In 2009, she was honored as the Volunteer REALTOR® of the Year by the San Diego Association of REALTORS® (SDAR) and received the “Distinguished Woman of Color” Award from the NAACP in 2017. Denise has also held leadership roles as the Past President of the San Diego Network of Women’s Council of REALTORS® and as President of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, San Diego Chapter, from 2014 to 2017. Currently, she serves as the 2nd Vice President of the California Association of Real Estate Brokers (CAREB), following her tenure as Regional Vice President.

Outside of her professional life, Denise is single by choice and takes great pride in her role as an aunt and surrogate mother to her two nephews, two nieces, and two goddaughters, as well as many children who consider her family. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and shopping. While she humorously admits to not cooking—by choice rather than inability—she finds joy in liturgical dancing.
