About Pat Kapowich
Pat has been a dedicated professional in the real estate sector since obtaining his California Real Estate License in 1987, followed by his California Real Estate Broker License in 1998. He has distinguished himself by earning several prestigious designations, including ABR, CRB, CRS, GRI, and SRES. In 2011, he further advanced his expertise by becoming a Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager.
His insights and expertise have been featured in prominent publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The San Jose Business Journal, The San Jose Mercury News, Broker/Agent Magazine, Tri-County Apartment Magazine, and The California Association of Realtors Magazine. In 1997, he was invited by the San Jose Mercury News to contribute to their Real Estate Virtual Forum, and in 2007, he began writing a monthly column for their Saturday Market Wise Q&A section.
In collaboration with Ryan, Pat launched the monthly consumer-protection cable series "Kapowich on Real Estate" in 1999, which is broadcast across 25 cities from South San Francisco to San Jose. From 2000 to 2011, he served as a Presiding Officer on the Professional Standards Committee, having been recruited by the CEO of the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors.
In 2003, Pat and Ryan initiated the "Second Saturday Seminar Series," which laid the groundwork for the Saturday Real Estate classes that Pat now teaches at De Anza College. Between 2005 and 2010, he contributed to the Forms Committee, where he played a key role in developing and refining local real estate contracts for the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors.
In 2006, Pat joined the Advisory Committee for the Robert Bruss California Real Estate Law Newsletter. The following year, he established a series of real estate classes at De Anza College and became a member of the California Community College Association of Real Estate Educators. From 2009 to 2011, he served as an Ombudsman for the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors, where he worked to resolve transactional conflicts before they escalated.
Since 2013, Pat has held the position of Chairman of the Education Committee for the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors. As lifelong residents of Silicon Valley, Pat and Ryan emphasize the importance of technical, conceptual, and communication skills in facilitating successful transactions. Committed to continuous improvement, they actively seek out new methods to enhance their expertise. One of their key areas of focus is managing live negotiations for clients looking to sell their homes while simultaneously purchasing a new property.
