After earning his degree from San Diego State University in 1976, he promptly secured his California Real Estate License and began his career in the banking sector. During this time, he managed a substantial real estate portfolio valued at $650 million and oversaw a team of 135 professionals.

In 1989, Skip founded the Barbour Corporation, a real estate firm focused on sales management and construction. His leadership resulted in the management of over 2,000 apartment units, more than 1,000,000 square feet of commercial properties, and 200 single-family homes. Eventually, he sold the management division of Barbour Corporation to a local real estate firm.

Skip is dedicated to his profession, consistently engaging in real estate seminars and courses to enhance his skills and provide exceptional service to his clients.
