He pursued his undergraduate studies in literature at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and later earned an MFA in creative writing from Saint Mary’s College. Since 2006, he has made San Francisco his home. As both a homeowner and a landlord, Alan possesses a deep understanding of community engagement and the responsibilities that accompany it.
