Candace and her family first visited the area in 1995, quickly falling in love with its charm. In 2004, they made the decision to relocate permanently. Candace's children attended St. Michael's Academy until the eighth grade, subsequently graduating from Fernandina Beach High School, and both later earned degrees from the University of Florida.
