About Chris Smith

Chris is a seasoned real estate professional with deep roots in Bloomington, having lived in various neighborhoods, from Ellettsville to Unionville and the Courthouse Square. He earned a degree in Engineering, which led him to join his family's real estate firm that focuses on commercial development. Following this, he completed his engineering training and secured a role with a local civil design and architectural firm. During this time, Chris also gained hands-on experience as a contractor, building townhomes and acquiring knowledge in finance.

In the late 1990s, Chris returned to the family business, contributing to significant commercial projects such as Whitehall Crossing, Clear Creek Crossing, and the restoration of the Historic Louben Building, which now houses Opie Taylor's and was once home to Pagliai’s Pizza, featured in the film "Breaking Away."

In 2006, Chris and his wife, Betsy, relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he took on the role of Department Manager at an engineering firm. During their time in Charlotte, they welcomed a son into their family and ultimately decided that Bloomington was the ideal place to raise their children.
