About Daniel Whalen

Dan is a dedicated real estate professional known for his strong interpersonal skills and commitment to excellence. Since 2013, he has been serving clients as a Realtor, currently affiliated with EXP Realty after previous tenures at Howard Hanna and Long & Foster Realty. Before embarking on his real estate career, Dan had a distinguished tenure in the United States Navy as a Captain in the Medical Service Corps. He began his military service in 1983 and held various positions, including assignments at the Naval Hospital in Camp Pendleton, the USS Kitty Hawk, and the Naval Hospital in Long Beach. His dedication to education led him to San Diego State University, where he earned a Master's Degree in Educational Administration in December 1995. Following this, he served as a Leadership Instructor and Director of Training at the Naval Leader Training Unit in Coronado, California.

Dan also pursued a Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership at the University of San Diego, completing a significant portion before transitioning to the Naval School of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, where he served as the Director of Executive Management Education. His career continued to evolve with roles at the Naval School of Health Sciences in Portsmouth, Virginia, and the Center for Naval Leadership in Little Creek, Virginia, where he ultimately became the Officer-in-Charge.

In addition to his extensive military background, Dan holds an MBA from Strayer University and is a Fellow Diplomate of the American Academy of Medical Administrators. He has served as a Past President of the American College of Contingency Planners and is certified as an ISO 9001/2000 Lead Auditor. His expertise extends to leadership and management, having completed and taught numerous courses, including Lean Six Sigma and Total Quality Management.

Residing in the Chic's Beach area of Virginia Beach since 2001, Dan enjoys family life with his wife, Karen, originally from Farmington, Michigan, and their two children, Danny and Katie.
