He and his wife, Kathy, have built a fulfilling life together, raising two children: Makenzie, a 24-year-old graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in animal sciences, and Mason, a 20-year-old currently attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Originally from Washington, D.C., and later Chicago, Douglas and Kathy relocated to Cincinnati to be closer to Kathy's family, particularly her aging mother. He maintains strong ties to his family in Kansas City, where his mother and brother reside, while his father lives nearby in Milford, Ohio.

An active member of the community, Douglas contributes to Boy Scout Troop 128 in Milford, where Mason achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He has also served as Treasurer for the Stoneridge Homeowners Association and as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 128. His involvement extends to the Board of Directors for The Circuit, the Information Technology Association of Southwest Ohio, and participation in the City of Milford's 10-Year Plan Steering Committee.
