What was intended to be a brief stay turned into a deep-rooted love for the community, leading her to purchase and restore a historic farmhouse on 120 acres, where she and her partner raised a variety of animals.
In 1972, she co-founded a museum design firm, leveraging her skills in design, writing, and research. Over the next decade, the firm gained national recognition, contributing to museum projects worldwide.
Throughout the 1980s and 90s, she and her daughter, Ashley, resided in various homes across Athens County, developing a passion for restoring beautiful properties—a pursuit that became both a hobby and a professional asset.
In July 2000, she married her ideal partner and moved into a contemporary home overlooking Athens. Her husband, an Ohio University administrator and psychology professor for over four decades, shares her appreciation for the town. In 2008, they renovated their current residence, a contemporary ranch set on 2.5 wooded acres, where they enjoy gardening and the tranquility of their surroundings.

After fifteen years as a Realtor, she earned her Real Estate Broker’s license in 2006. That same year, she and her team established Liz Maule Realty, transforming a historic Victorian home in Athens into their office. The firm flourished, and by 2011, it had expanded to eleven agents, becoming one of the top three real estate offices in the local market, occasionally ranking first. In the fall of 2011, after careful consideration, she and Russell Chamberlain merged their companies to form The Athens Real Estate Company, with both serving as co-brokers.
