Jacqueline West hails from Virginia, where she grew up in a large family with six siblings. She is a proud mother of two adult children and a grandmother to two. An active member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, Jacqueline values her community and enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. Her personal interests include gardening, reading, and taking daily walks with her German Shepherd.

Jacqueline earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Maine in 1983, followed by a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the University of Virginia in 1988. Over the course of three decades, she dedicated her career to public service within the nonprofit sector. Her experience includes a decade at Child & Family Guidance, where she worked as a therapist and later directed the Family and Community Education Department. Additionally, she served as the Program Director at the Shared Housing Center, a transitional housing facility for single homeless women and their children. Jacqueline also held the position of Director of Community Youth Development, focusing on juvenile delinquency prevention, and was the Deputy Director at the Community Council of Greater Dallas, a social service agency.
