He has also been involved with the Building Industry Association (BIA) Board of Directors, served as Vice-Chairman of the San Diego Asset Leasing Corporation (SANCAL), and chaired the Youth Support Institute of America (YSIA) and the San Diego Humane Society.

In recognition of his philanthropic efforts, Mr. Kane received the San Diego County Philanthropy Award in 2000. His community service extends to the Board of Directors for Children's Hospital of San Diego and Ivy Ranch Park in Oceanside.
