He completed his education at Thomas Jefferson High School, followed by St. Philip's College and St. Mary's University. He furthered his academic credentials by earning a Master's degree in Management from Webster University in St. Louis.

After dedicating over 22 years to the U.S. Army, he returned to San Antonio in 1990, where he began a career as a medical technologist with LabCorp of America. Following an 11-year tenure in that role, he transitioned into real estate in 2002.
