As an undergraduate at Texas A&M, he spent three years as a co-op student with Wildlife Systems in San Angelo, working as a wildlife technician and hunting guide across West Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico. He also contributed to the Eastern Wild Turkey reintroduction project in Texas as an undergraduate research assistant, collaborating with the Texas A&M Department of Wildlife & Fisheries and Texas Parks & Wildlife.
