About Joan Harned

Joan has been a resident of Eagle County since 1972 and has dedicated her career to real estate since 1986 with Black Bear Real Estate Co., the predecessor of Keller Williams Mountain Properties. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the industry, she was honored as the “Realtor of the Year” by the Vail Board of Realtors in 1998. Joan served on the Vail Board of Realtors for six years, including a term as Chairman from 2003 to 2004.

Her commitment to community service is further exemplified by her appointment by Governor Owens to the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund Board (GOCO), where she served for four years. In 2004, alongside Tom Harned, she played a pivotal role in establishing the first Keller Williams franchise in Eagle County. Together, they manage Team Black Bear, recognized as a Mega Agent office within the Keller Williams franchise.

Joan holds several prestigious designations, including membership in the KW Luxury Division, the KW Land Division, and the Real Estate Land Institute (RLI). She is also a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), reflecting her extensive expertise in the field.

Before embarking on her real estate career, Joan graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and spent over two decades as a flight attendant for a major airline. This experience allowed her to develop exceptional interpersonal skills while traveling the globe.

Married to Tom Harned for over 50 years, Joan is a proud mother to one son and a grandmother to nine grandchildren, as well as four great-grandchildren. Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys staying active through golfing, walking, snowshoeing, and working out.
