About Joann Pomatto-Gomez

In 1890, the Pomatto brothers emigrated from Turin, Italy, drawn to the burgeoning Glen Annie Canyon, which was beginning to resemble an Italian enclave. Among them was JoAnn's great-grandfather, whose story is chronicled in Walker A. Tompkins' book, *Goleta: The Good Land*. The family acquired land previously owned by Colonel Hollister, where they cultivated a variety of crops and raised livestock, including cattle, pigs, pigeons, and chickens, alongside orchards of lemons, oranges, and avocados. The Pomatto family has significantly contributed to the Goleta and Santa Barbara communities.

JoAnn, along with her husband Anthony and their three active children—Kendra, Dalen, and Morgan—thrives in the picturesque surroundings of Goleta, nestled between the foothills and the ocean.
