About John Muir

John Muir's connection to western North Carolina began in his childhood, spending summers on the plateau with family. This early exposure fostered a profound appreciation for the region. After earning a degree in Real Estate from Ole Miss, he relocated to Vail, Colorado, where he initially worked as a fly fishing guide. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own outfitting service and manage properties for second homeowners in the area.

With the birth of their son, Shep, John and his wife, Charlotte, chose to return to their roots in the Highlands area. They were drawn to the plateau for its exceptional quality of life, abundant outdoor activities, and a supportive community ideal for raising a family. Their family grew with the arrival of their daughter, Eliza, in 2020.

Upon returning to North Carolina, John decided to leverage his real estate expertise by obtaining his North Carolina real estate license. He is proud to be a member of the Berkshire Hathaway Meadows Mountain Realty team, where he is eager to share his enthusiasm for the region with clients.

As part of the Michaud/Rauers Group, John collaborates with esteemed colleagues Judy Michaud, Mitzi Rauers, and Tom Goldacker.
