Originally from North Dakota, Josh relocated to Houston after high school to pursue commercial diving. Following the completion of his training, he embarked on a successful career as a deep-sea diver, spending nine years in the field before advancing to the role of dive supervisor and superintendent for an additional nine years. In 2006, he settled in Pensacola, Florida, where he purchased his first home.

In 2013, Josh married Lena, a nurse practitioner, and together they are raising two sons and a daughter. Outside of work, he enjoys diving, fishing, jet skiing, and unwinding on the picturesque Florida beaches.
