Karen Brooks, a native of Pensacola, Florida, was raised in a Navy family and relocated to Cocoa Beach in 1971. Growing up alongside her three sisters, including her twin, jeweler Sharon Anderson, Karen embraced a vibrant childhood filled with swimming, surfing, fishing, and painting. This sun-soaked environment nurtured her artistic spirit and laid the groundwork for her lifelong passion for creativity.

In 1982, Karen married Kirby Brooks in Florida, and together they launched their entrepreneurial journey with The Connection in Florida and Motor Power Industries in Baltimore, Maryland. Through The Connection, Karen gained invaluable experience in nationwide sales and customer relations, establishing a solid foundation for her business acumen.

After retiring, Karen and Kirby discovered the breathtaking beauty and lifestyle of Ouray County, Colorado, during a vacation. In 2000, they purchased a home in the Fairway Pines Village subdivision (now known as The Divide Ranch and Golf Club) on Loghill Mesa. They split their time between Florida and Colorado until 2005, when they sold their Florida residence and made Ridgway their permanent home.

In 2002, Karen obtained her Colorado Real Estate Broker’s License, and in September 2005, she founded San Juan Realty Inc. as the Employing Broker. She quickly earned a reputation for her professionalism and strong work ethic, helping San Juan Realty Inc. become one of the leading brokerage firms on the Western Slope, known for providing honest, knowledgeable, and reliable real estate information.
