About Kathy McDowell

With a background that uniquely blends education and real estate, this professional has transitioned from a fulfilling 13-year career as a preschool assistant teacher to a dedicated real estate agent. After raising two children and contemplating her next steps, she pursued her real estate sales license, followed by her broker license, a decision she has embraced wholeheartedly.

Having deep roots in Lafayette, where she was born and raised, she possesses an intimate knowledge of the local market. Her commitment to building relationships, which was a cornerstone of her teaching career, continues to thrive in her real estate practice. She finds immense satisfaction in guiding clients through one of the most significant financial decisions they will ever make.

Married for over 30 years to her high school sweetheart, she is a proud mother to a married daughter and a son who excels in the engineering field. Recently, she and her husband sold their home of 18 years and moved into a new construction, an experience that has enhanced her empathy for clients navigating the buying and selling process.

Her community involvement is extensive, having volunteered at various organizations, including Digby House, Lafayette Urban Ministry, and Habitat for Humanity's Team Shook Women Build. She has also contributed to her church by teaching Sunday school, coordinating the Welcome Team, and participating in a mentoring program.

A graduate of the Indiana Association of Realtors Leadership Academy, she currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Lafayette Regional Association of Realtors Board of Directors. Additionally, she holds the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRESĀ®) designation, equipping her to better serve clients aged 50 and over.

In her leisure time, she enjoys traveling, attending Purdue sports events, hiking, and reading. She is eager to assist clients in all aspects of the real estate journey and invites you to reach out for support.

Tippecanoe County's real estate market presents a fascinating blend of university-driven demand and agricultural heritage, creating unique investment opportunities in West Central Indiana. Home to Purdue University, the county experiences consistent rental demand from students and faculty, while also attracting families drawn to Lafayette's growing tech sector and reasonable cost of living. The market benefits from steady population growth and economic diversification beyond its agricultural roots.

With 345 total actively licensed agents serving the county, the real estate landscape is competitive yet accessible, with all 345 agents maintaining email connectivity for modern business communications. This robust agent network reflects the county's active property market, where median home prices remain attractive compared to larger Indiana metros while offering strong appreciation potential. The presence of major employers like Purdue University, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, and Wabash National Corporation creates sustained housing demand across multiple price points.

Major Tippecanoe County, Indiana Real Estate Markets

Lafayette serves as the county's primary commercial and residential hub, featuring historic neighborhoods like Highland Park alongside newer developments near the Wabash River. West Lafayette commands premium prices due to its proximity to Purdue University, with areas like Chauncey Village and the Stadium Area experiencing high turnover and strong rental yields. Battle Ground and Dayton offer rural residential options with larger lots, attracting buyers seeking small-town charm within commuting distance of Lafayette's employment centers.

The county's eastern townships, including Fairfield and Shelby, provide agricultural and recreational properties that appeal to investors interested in farmland or hunting properties. Surprisingly, waterfront properties along the Wabash River and Tippecanoe River have seen increased interest from buyers seeking recreational retreats. These diverse geographic markets create opportunities for agents specializing in everything from student housing to luxury riverfront estates.

Market Dynamics and Geographic Complexity

Tippecanoe County's real estate market operates on multiple seasonal cycles, with university-related properties peaking during spring semester and traditional family homes showing strongest activity in summer months. The county's agricultural legacy means significant acreage transactions occur alongside residential sales, requiring agents with diverse expertise. Interestingly, the area has seen growing interest from Chicago and Indianapolis buyers seeking vacation properties or retirement locations with lower costs and rural amenities.

Geographic complexity extends beyond urban-rural divides to include flood-prone areas near major waterways, historic districts with preservation restrictions, and newer planned communities with HOA regulations. Properties near Purdue's campus command different valuation approaches than agricultural land or suburban developments. This complexity creates opportunities for specialized agents but also demands sophisticated market knowledge and targeted marketing strategies.

Why Businesses Need Tippecanoe County, Indiana Agent Contact Data

Mortgage lenders, insurance companies, and property management firms require direct access to Tippecanoe County's 345 licensed agents to capitalize on the university-driven market cycles and agricultural property transactions. Real estate technology companies and service providers find success by timing their outreach to coincide with peak leasing seasons and harvest-related land sales. The county's mix of student rentals, family homes, and commercial agricultural properties creates diverse opportunities for businesses offering specialized services.

Marketing companies and real estate service providers benefit from understanding that Tippecanoe County agents handle uniquely diverse portfolios, from $800-per-month student apartments to million-dollar farmland transactions. With complete email coverage across all 345 agents, businesses can implement targeted campaigns addressing specific market segments. The county's growing reputation as a tech hub and affordable family destination means agents increasingly seek modern tools and services to handle expanding client bases.
