About Kevin Starkey

Kevin Starkey moved to North Carolina from South Florida at the age of eight, and he considers himself nearly a native of the state. Growing up in Cary and graduating from Apex High School, he now resides in Fuquay-Varina with his wife, Amanda, who has deep roots in the community—her family founded the town, and her maiden name is Fuquay. This connection has led to a light-hearted saying that knowing Fuquay is practically her middle name. Both Kevin and Amanda attended East Carolina University, where Kevin focused on Communications while Amanda pursued Political Science and Sociology, balancing their studies with a vibrant social life in Greenville.

After completing college, Kevin embarked on a career in real estate, initially serving as a Buyer’s Agent for six years on a team dedicated to helping clients find their ideal homes. In May 2014, he took a significant step by establishing his own practice. Within a year, his business flourished, prompting the need for additional support. Around the same time, Amanda was considering a change after eight years in Non-Profit Fundraising, making it an opportune moment for her to join Kevin in the real estate sector. Together, they formed the Sold By Starkey Team, which has since expanded to include five dedicated members: Susie, Jen W, Jen D, Brad, Shannon, Liz, and Autumn, who have become like family.

Kevin is actively involved in the Realtor community, currently serving on the Board of Directors for both the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors (RRAR) and the North Carolina Association of Realtors. He has previously chaired the NCAR Young Professionals Network and the RRAR Young Professionals Network, in addition to participating in various committees at both the state and local levels. After graduating from the RRAR Triangle Leadership Academy in 2014, he was invited to serve as Dean for the 2016 class.

Kevin and Amanda are proud parents to two young daughters, Lila and Nora, and share their home with a spirited yellow lab named Maya and a plump tuxedo cat named Truman. The family enjoys attending live music events, exploring new restaurants, spending quality time with relatives, and traveling whenever possible, with New York City and Key West being among their favorite destinations. While Kevin is a devoted Redskins fan—who promises to keep showing homes during game time, albeit with an occasional score check—he also makes time for college basketball and enjoys golfing, despite his self-proclaimed lack of skill. Amanda dedicates her free time to supporting various organizations, transporting children, and hosting events whenever the opportunity arises.

The Starkeys believe that while sales metrics are important, their primary objective is to deliver an exceptional real estate experience to each client, with the understanding that success will naturally follow.

Wake County, North Carolina stands as one of the Southeast's most dynamic real estate markets, anchored by Raleigh's thriving tech corridor and the prestigious Research Triangle Park. This rapidly growing region has attracted major corporations like Apple, Google, and Amazon, creating unprecedented demand for both residential and commercial properties across diverse price points.

The county's real estate landscape is supported by an impressive network of 13,792 total actively licensed agents, with complete email accessibility across this entire professional base. This robust agent concentration reflects the market's complexity and opportunity, serving everything from luxury estates in North Hills to affordable starter homes in outlying communities like Zebulon and Wendell.

Major Wake County, North Carolina Real Estate Markets

Raleigh dominates as the county's primary market, with distinct neighborhoods like downtown's warehouse district experiencing dramatic urban renewal, while established areas like Five Points and Oakwood maintain their historic charm. Cary has emerged as a premium suburban destination, consistently ranking among America's best places to live, driving luxury home sales above $800,000. Meanwhile, Apex and Holly Springs represent the county's fastest-growing suburban markets, attracting young families with new construction and top-rated schools.

The Research Triangle's influence extends beyond Raleigh's city limits, with Morrisville and Garner benefiting from proximity to RTP employers and Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Wake Forest has transformed from a small college town into a sought-after suburban community, while Fuquay-Varina offers a unique blend of historic downtown charm and modern development. Each market operates with distinct pricing dynamics, inventory levels, and buyer demographics.

Market Dynamics and Geographic Complexity

Wake County's real estate market defies simple categorization, with micro-markets varying dramatically within short distances. Downtown Raleigh condos can command $400+ per square foot, while similar properties in Knightdale might sell for half that amount. The county's rapid population growth—adding roughly 20,000 residents annually—has created persistent inventory shortages in desirable school districts, particularly in West Cary and North Raleigh.

Surprisingly, the market shows strong performance across all segments, from first-time buyer condos under $200,000 to luxury estates exceeding $2 million. Corporate relocations drive significant activity in the $300,000-$600,000 range, while local move-up buyers fuel demand in established neighborhoods. The presence of three major universities adds rental market complexity, creating opportunities in student housing and investment properties.

Why Businesses Need Wake County, North Carolina Agent Contact Data

The county's 13,792 actively licensed agents represent diverse specializations essential for business success—from corporate relocation specialists serving RTP companies to luxury agents handling executive transfers. Mortgage lenders, home improvement companies, and insurance providers need direct access to this agent network to capitalize on Wake County's sustained growth trajectory and high transaction volumes.
