In their leisure time, the family enjoys restoring their historic home, originally built by Lars's great-grandfather in 1912, and spending weekends at their cottage in Sister Lakes. They are avid supporters of the Chicago Cubs during the summer and enjoy college football games in the fall. Additionally, Lars has a background in coaching, having led the track and cross-country teams at St. Joseph High School from 2006 to 2015.
