She currently represents HIBR on the Big Island Business Council, where she served as president from 2002 to 2003. Additionally, she has held the presidency of the Rotary Club of Hilo Bay (2008-2009) and the Hawaiʻi Island Chamber of Commerce (2009-2010).

A strong advocate for business development, Begier is dedicated to fostering the kind of communities that residents aspire to create. She actively participates in various legislative and public policy committees, contributing to initiatives aimed at enhancing the image of the Realtor community throughout the state.

Growing up as one of nine siblings, Begier learned early on the significance of community and teamwork. Her father’s career in the U.S. space program meant the family moved frequently, instilling in her a sense of adaptability.

Begier also served in the United States Navy, attending schools in Florida and California before her assignments at NAVCOMSTA HONO and SIMA Pearl Harbor. In 2006, she was appointed by Governor Linda Lingle to the Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, later becoming chair of the Commissioners in 2010. Furthermore, she represents the Hawaiʻi Island Chamber of Commerce on the board of the Big Island Housing Foundation.
