About Michael Matteson

With a commitment to ensuring equitable transactions for both buyers and sellers, this real estate professional believes in fostering a positive experience for all parties involved.

Having relocated to Garrison in 1987, he and his wife, Tonee, have raised their twin daughters, McKaila and McKenzie, in this vibrant community. Garrison is not only where they purchased their first home but also where he began his career in real estate in 1999.

Originally from Inkster, North Dakota, he graduated from Midway High School before moving to Fargo to attend North Dakota State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in animal science. In 1999, he became a licensed Realtor® with Coldwell Banker 1st Minot Realty, working from the Garrison office. By 2013, he had advanced to become a licensed Broker and established his own firm, West Inkster Realty.

Over the past three decades, he has actively contributed to various community organizations and initiatives that enhance the quality of life in Garrison. His involvement includes serving as President of the Garrison Chamber of Commerce (2000), leading the North Dakota Firefighter’s Museum (2010-present), and participating in the Garrison Volunteer Fire Department since 1988, where he currently holds the position of Assistant Chaplain. Additionally, he volunteers as a projectionist at the local KOTA theatre, is a member of the Beach Party Committee, and has been part of the Garrison Convention & Visitors’ Bureau Board since 2006. He has also been engaged with the Garrison Area Improvement Association since its founding in 1991.

In his leisure time, he enjoys cooking, golfing, fishing, gardening, and cherishing moments with his family, including their two beagles, Rocco and Copper.
