About Michael Fourte

Michael Fourte grew up in both Michigan and Minnesota before receiving a nomination from the late Senator Paul Wellstone (D-Mn) to attend the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis Maryland While in attendance he co-authored mathematics software packages and an article published in the Journal of Recreational Mathematics In 1996 Midshipman Fourte was invited to do mathematical research at the Naval Air Warfare Center in Willow Grove Pennsylvania His extra-curricular activities included NCAA Division I cross-country and track In 1998 he graduated from the Naval Academy and received a commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy from President William Jefferson Clinton

After attending Surface Warfare School in Newport RI Ensign Fourte reported aboard the USS Hue City as the Information Systems Officer and finished as the Tomahawk Strike Officer In October of 2000 after the USS Cole attack Lieutenant Junior Grade Fourte accepted orders as the Tomahawk Strike Officer for Commander Destroyer Squadron 50 in the Arabian Gulf where he planned and executed cruise missile strikes in support of Operation Enduring Freedom

In December of 2002 Lt (jg) Fourte reported to Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps State University of New York Maritime College and Fordham University where he taught Naval Orientation and Naval History During this tour he also earned his Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law

In February of 2004 Lt Fourte transitioned to the Navy Reserves to complete law school and obtain his real estate broker’s and instructor’s licenses He has taught real estate and title insurance law at various colleges and schools throughout New Jersey

In 2007 after being admitted as an attorney in New York New Jersey and the Armed Forces Court of Appeals Lt Cmdr Fourte accepted a voluntary recall to Naval Operational Support Center New York where he served as Manpower Executive and Commanding Officer

From 2012 to 2016 Cmdr Fourte served as the Navy City Outreach Officer for the Northeastern United States where he engages civic community and government leaders to help encourage student interest in Science Technology Engineering and Math to fulfill the United States Navy’s National Naval Responsibility to help train tomorrow’s leaders

From 2018 to 2019 he served as the Director of Current Operations for Combined Joint Task Force Horn or Africa (CJTF-HOA) where he led a team composed of Army Navy Air Force Marine and Civilian personnel For his efforts in ensuring operations throughout Eastern Africa Commander Fourte was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal on behalf of the Secretary of Defense in August 2019
