About Michael Jones

Mike Jones, known as Jacksonville's Voice of Real Estate and former host of The Real Estate Today Show, is a proud native of Jacksonville. He often addresses common concerns from newcomers, particularly those from northern states, reassuring them that he has never encountered an alligator in a threatening manner. He humorously notes that discussions about alligators and hurricanes frequently arise, but he emphasizes that with proper precautions, residents need not worry about either.

Having spent over 40 years in Jacksonville, Mike has relished the Florida sunshine, with the exception of a six-year tenure in the United States Navy. As an Aviation Ordnanceman, he proudly carries the title of AO Ord'y or "Red Shirt." His military service included four years with VA-27, one of the last A-7 squadrons, based in Lemoore, California, and two western Pacific cruises aboard the USS Carl Vinson. Mike is always eager to share stories from his Navy days over a cold beverage.

Cindy Jones, the dynamic partner in The Jones Group, hails from Nashville, Tennessee, with stops in St. Petersburg, Florida, and other locations before settling in Jacksonville. After serving six years in the United States Army, including a deployment during Desert Storm, she brings a strong presence to the team, despite her approachable demeanor. While she has a healthy aversion to snakes, bugs, and lizards—common in Florida—she thrives in the warm climate and is dedicated to assisting clients with their real estate needs.

Together, Mike and Cindy enjoy an active lifestyle, often riding Mike's Harley Davidson Road King, forging new friendships, spending time at the beach, and guiding clients through the buying and selling process in Jacksonville and Orange Park.

Major Duval County, Florida Real Estate Markets

Jacksonville's real estate landscape divides into distinct regions, each with unique characteristics and price points. The Beaches area, including Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach, and Ponte Vedra Beach, commands premium prices for oceanfront and near-ocean properties, while downtown Jacksonville has experienced significant revitalization with new condominiums and loft conversions attracting young professionals and empty nesters seeking urban amenities.

Suburban growth continues to surge in areas like Mandarin, Orange Park, and Fleming Island, where new construction and master-planned communities offer families modern amenities and top-rated schools. The Southside and San Marco neighborhoods provide established charm with historic homes and walkable business districts, while the Northside presents affordable housing options and emerging development opportunities that savvy investors are beginning to recognize.

Market Dynamics and Geographic Complexity

What makes Duval County particularly intriguing is its absorption of multiple smaller municipalities and unincorporated areas, creating micro-markets with vastly different demographics, pricing structures, and growth patterns. Areas like Fernandina Beach offer historic charm and resort-style living, while neighborhoods closer to Naval Air Station Jacksonville cater to military families with specific housing needs and timeline requirements.

The market benefits from Florida's lack of state income tax, a growing logistics and financial services sector, and Jacksonville's position as a major port city, all of which drive consistent population growth and housing demand. Surprisingly, despite its size, Duval County maintains relatively affordable housing compared to other major Florida metros, though waterfront properties and luxury developments in areas like Ponte Vedra can reach seven-figure price points.
