About Michelle Basso

Michelle's journey to Fripp Island began in 1996, following her graduation from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Resort Management. She initially joined Fripp Island Resort's recreation department, quickly advancing through various roles. Within a year, she was promoted to a management position within the Food & Beverage Department. After seven years overseeing restaurant operations for the resort, she became a part-owner of Sand Bar LLC, which encompasses Fripp Island's Sandbar, Savannah’s Lounge, and the Cabana Club. In 1995, she took on the role of General Manager at Johnson Creek Tavern on Harbor Island.

In July 2006, Michelle obtained her real estate license and joined Island Realty, collaborating with Theresa Cooper, a consistently top-performing agent in Beaufort County. This partnership provided Michelle with invaluable, hands-on experience that is often absent from traditional classroom learning. By 2009, she achieved recognition as the fourth-highest salesperson within the company.

That same year, Michelle partnered with Clarence Pico, widely known as “Mr. Harbor Island,” forming a highly effective team.

In 2017, Island Realty merged with Bay Street Realty Group and subsequently became a franchise of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, one of the leading real estate franchises globally.
