About Mitchell Darby

Mitch Darby is a registered architect and licensed real estate broker (Realtor®) based in the picturesque region of central Oregon. His professional journey began in Portland, where he was born and raised. Mitch earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture, with a minor in Art History, from the University of Oregon in 1994. Shortly after graduation, he joined a prominent architectural firm in Portland. By 2000, he had successfully completed the architectural licensing exams, officially becoming a registered architect in Oregon.

In 2002, Mitch made the decision to relocate to central Oregon, where he has since established his career. The economic downturn in 2008 led to significant changes in the architectural landscape, including layoffs and the eventual closure of the firm he was with by the end of 2012. Rather than return to a larger metropolitan area, he opted to remain in central Oregon and launch his own architectural practice.

Recognizing the resurgence of the housing market in early 2016, Mitch pursued his broker's license to expand his expertise into real estate. While architecture and real estate are distinct fields, he finds that they complement each other effectively, enhancing his ability to serve clients.

Mitch is believed to be the only Realtor®/Architect in central Oregon. Although he is not a licensed appraiser or inspector, he offers valuable insights on various aspects of real estate, including design, site selection, materials, and remodeling.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Mitch has a passion for music, cinema, photography, outdoor activities, and travel. A notable experience includes a trip to Tunisia, where he visited filming locations for the original STAR WARS trilogy and other iconic films such as RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, THE ENGLISH PATIENT, and MONTY PYTHON'S LIFE OF BRIAN.

While licensed to sell real estate throughout Oregon, Mitch primarily focuses on central Oregon, encompassing Deschutes, Jefferson, Crook counties, and occasionally northern Klamath County. His area of expertise includes the cities and towns of Bend, Redmond, La Pine, Madras, Metolius, Culver, Prineville, and Sisters, as well as unincorporated areas like Powell Butte, Terrebonne, Tumalo, and Three Rivers South. This region is also home to renowned resort communities such as Black Butte Ranch, Brasada Ranch, Caldera Springs, Crooked River Ranch, Crosswater, Eagle Crest, Pronghorn, Sunriver, Tetherow, and the Three Rivers Recreation Area. Property searches for these areas can be accessed through the links on his website or the "Properties" drop-down menu.
