A resident of Ventura County since 1979, he has deep roots in the community, having graduated from Simi Valley High School in 1982. Nelson served in the U.S. Army from 1983 to 1990 before embarking on a full-time career in real estate in 1990. He became a Notary Public in 2009 and holds a California Real Estate Broker license (BRE # 01054057).

Nelson's service area encompasses Simi Valley and Moorpark, as well as the Conejo Valley, which includes Agoura, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, and Newbury Park. He also serves clients in Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, the San Fernando Valley, and Santa Clarita.

He has also contributed to the Governmental Affairs Committee and the Nominating Committee for C.A.R., among other responsibilities.

His prior service and accolades include receiving the 2015 President's Award from CSMAR and being named REALTOR of the Year by the Simi Valley-Moorpark Association of REALTORS (SVMAR) in 2009. Nelson has also held various leadership positions, including President of SVMAR in 2009 and State Director for C.A.R. from 2007 to 2012 and again in 2014-2015.
