About Rick Kuper

Rick, a fourth-generation Texan hailing from El Paso, has deep roots in the Lone Star State. His grandfather established the Lone Star Brewing Company in 1940, marking the beginning of a family legacy. After earning his degree from the University of Texas in the early 1970s, Rick embarked on a career in advertising and marketing.

In 1974, during the oil boom, he seized the opportunity to acquire a fastener manufacturing and distribution company in Houston, which he successfully managed for a decade before selling it. In 1986, he joined Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty, a firm founded by his father and brother in 1972, initially serving as Vice President of Marketing. Three years later, he transitioned into sales, quickly establishing himself as a top performer. Within four years, Rick was recognized as the leading salesperson among 8,000 agents in San Antonio, a distinction he has maintained throughout his career.

In 2007, Rick became the President and CEO of Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty. Under his stewardship, alongside his eldest son, the firm has expanded to include 380 agents and 11 offices across San Antonio, Boerne, New Braunfels, and Austin, achieving annual sales averaging $2 billion. Additionally, Rick has strategically diversified the company into commercial real estate and developer services, positioning it for significant growth in response to the booming markets in San Antonio and Austin.

Beyond his professional achievements, Rick is dedicated to community service. He was honored as "Man of the Year" by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in 2009 and currently chairs the community resource board for The Harry Jersig Center for Communications Disorders at Our Lady of the Lake University. He is also an active member of the Texas Cavaliers, a nonprofit organization that raises and donates over a million dollars annually to various charitable causes.
