After retiring as a Captain (O-6) from the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps in 2001, he transitioned into the real estate sector in 2004. Bob holds an MBA from Cornell University's Johnson School of Management and a PhD from Walden University's Institute for Advanced Studies.

His professional background includes roles as a healthcare administrator, correctional healthcare administrator, and licensed nursing home administrator.
