About Stephen Spurrell

Steve is a dedicated real estate professional with deep roots in Guilford, where he graduated from Guilford High School. After completing his studies at Bryant College, he began his career as a Police Officer in his hometown. Over his eight years of service, he initiated and successfully implemented a Police Patrol Dog program, serving as the handler for K-9 Lancer. His commitment to public safety earned him multiple accolades for life-saving actions. In addition, he served as an Emergency Medical Technician for 22 years, further demonstrating his dedication to the community.

In 1986, Steve founded Neighborhood Builders Inc. (NBI), specializing in the construction and renovation of residential and commercial properties along the Shoreline. His leadership in the industry is notable, having held two terms as President of the Home Builders Association of New Haven County, where he was honored as Builder of the Year. He also served on the Board of Directors for the State of Connecticut Home Builders Association and received the Remodeler of the Year award. Additionally, he contributed to the education of future industry leaders by teaching Field Superintendent courses for the National Association of Home Builders. One of his custom homes gained recognition in a special feature of Women’s Day Kitchen and Bath.

A strong advocate for community development, Steve has served six years on the Guilford Standing Building Committee and eight years on the Board of Finance. He continues to reside in Guilford, where he takes pride in his daughters, Kerry and Megan. An enthusiast of live music, Steve is also committed to giving back to the community, pledging to rebuild the Guilford VFW Hall at no cost to the veterans.
