About Susan Malan

Susan, a Connecticut native, brings a wealth of personal and professional real estate experience to her clients. Having relocated more than a dozen times across New England, she understands the complexities and challenges of moving to a new home and community. Her keen visual perspective allows her to envision potential in properties beyond their current state.

Professionally, Susan boasts over 30 years in financial services and real estate. Her career began in residential leasing, where she quickly advanced to the role of regional property manager, overseeing 450 residential units and a team of 20. She then transitioned into commercial real estate, focusing on acquisition, syndication, and development. Her banking career commenced as a commercial loan workout officer, where she progressed to roles including commercial real estate lender, credit officer, and regional business development strategist.

In addition to her corporate experience, Susan has a strong background in non-profit management. She served as a relationship manager and Director of Growth Strategies at the Institute for Global Ethics. Her credentials include certification as a trainer for the Institute, completion of Executive Development coursework at Bentley College in Managing Ethics in Organizations, and certification in conciliation training from the Northeast Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel America. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management/Administration.

Susan is deeply committed to her community, currently serving on the boards of the Valley Shore YMCA, Essex Art Association, and the Rotary Club of Essex. She is also a member of the Harbor Management Commission and the Essex Tree Committee, and has been involved with Child and Family Services. Her previous roles include Economic Development Consultant for the Town of Essex, Chair of the Essex Water Pollution Control Authority, Vice President of the Essex Historical Society, and Chair of the Sanitary Waste Commission. She has also contributed as a board member and treasurer for Land for Good and the Marblehead Festival of Arts, and has held various positions in the Ethics and Compliance Officers Association and the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics.

In her leisure time, Susan enjoys the company of her husband, Bob, and their Portuguese Water Dog, Couper. She has a passion for travel, art, antiques, and outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, swimming, and fishing. Additionally, she finds joy in gardening and maintaining her landscape.
