About Wendy Wilmot

Wendy and Andy Sayre have deep roots in Bald Head Island, having owned property since 1984 and established permanent residency in 1995. Their journey began with the purchase of a homesite during their inaugural visit, leading to frequent retreats from their professional lives—Wendy in real estate with York Commercial in Raleigh and Andy in commercial development. This initial experience allowed them to appreciate the Island from a renter's viewpoint, and they soon became founding Golf Members of the Bald Head Island Club and charter members of the Bald Head Island Yacht Club.

After spending two years living aboard a 40-foot sloop in the Bahamas, the couple returned to Bald Head Island, making it their permanent home. They have lived in various resale properties along the beach and marsh before embarking on the design and construction of their current residence, which overlooks the mouth of the Cape Fear River. This extensive journey has equipped Wendy with firsthand insights into the processes of buying, selling, renting, building, and living on Bald Head Island, perspectives she is eager to share with her clients.

Wendy and Andy's commitment to the Island is evident through their active involvement in various aspects of community life. Wendy serves on the Board of the Bald Head Island Conservancy and is engaged with Project 20/20. Additionally, she is a member of the Ladies Golf Association and has held leadership roles in the Golf and Green Community Ladies Golf Association and the Long-Range Planning Committee for the Property Owners Association. Andy has been a member of the Town Council since 1998 and currently holds the position of Mayor. He is also on the Board of Governors for the Bald Head Island Club.

Andy operated Riverwatch Builders, focusing on the construction of premier spec homes, allowing him to offer valuable insights and objective advice. Wendy's experience includes serving as the full-time Camp Director for Camp SeaGull/Seafarer in Arapahoe, NC, teaching at Norfolk Academy in Virginia, and working as a non-profit fundraiser for various organizations, including the 1987 US Olympic Festival and NC Theatre. Both have also spent significant time with Bald Head Island Ltd, the Island's developer, where Wendy excelled in real estate sales and Andy served as the Director of Development.
