About Yvette Hitchens
Yvette, a lifelong resident of Los Angeles, California, is a dedicated real estate professional and a proud mother of five—three adult children and two stepchildren. She is passionate about ensuring that all her children achieve homeownership by the age of 30.
Her journey into real estate began in 1996 when she encountered significant challenges while purchasing her first home, having worked with six different agents. This experience highlighted the gaps in knowledge among many professionals in the field, motivating her to obtain her real estate license.
In 1997, Yvette joined ReMax as a sales associate in Inglewood, California. By July 2000, she had earned her broker's license and established a small office in Los Angeles with a team of four agents. However, the market downturn in 2007 prompted her to pivot towards property management. After several years, Yvette returned to her passion for assisting buyers and sellers, joining Keller Williams Realty in 2014.
With over 25 years of experience, Yvette has worked extensively with buyers, sellers, and investors. She has also served as an instructor, teaching courses mandated by the California Department of Real Estate for aspiring agents. Her commitment to education is reflected in her approach to client relationships, where she strives to be a trusted resource.
Yvette holds several esteemed certifications in the real estate sector, including the Military Relocation Professional Certification, Pricing Strategy Advisor, Military Veteran Housing Certification, and Certified Military Relocator. She has also completed the Service Members Civil Relief Act Training program.
Currently, Yvette leads a small team of agents, which includes her husband, Darrell Hitchens. She advises buyers to begin their journey where they are, recognizing that not everyone can afford their dream home initially. Living in Southern California offers opportunities for equity growth through appreciation, allowing clients to eventually move up or create income properties by renting out their first homes.
Having grown up in a military family, Yvette has firsthand experience with the benefits of the VA home loan. In 1989, she and her siblings inherited their father's home, purchased through a VA loan. By age 23, Yvette became a homeowner and landlord, and by 30, she had acquired her second property as a single parent.
Yvette's strength lies in her humility, which she views as an asset rather than a weakness. She maintains a professional demeanor and is a skilled negotiator, always prioritizing her clients' best interests. Since 2018, she and her team have contributed nearly $100,000 in rebates to local heroes, further demonstrating her commitment to giving back to the community.
